"The Ministry" by Ezuan York |
Contemporary Art Gallery Online concluded 2015 with an All
Photography & Digital Art competition inviting artists to participate by
submitting their own Photography and Digital Art works. The results were visually dimensional, stark
and emotionally evocative.
Ezuan York received Best in Show for, “The Ministry”; a
black & white photograph strategically colorized and developed as a
futuristic runway or overpass, tucked in a lonely city.
“Wheel No. 5”, by
Sonia Melnikova –Raich, was selected as Gallery Choice. The dizzying ordinal elapses from a sequence of
images which gradually develop in complexity.
Claire Z received First Place for, “Domaine Mist” and Gary
Horsfall received Second Place for, “Derelict Barn”. Both portraits are peppered by solitary land
marks and vast acreage wherein the onlooker is awakened with the diurnal
course.
“Studying iPhone” by, Zachary Garret was awarded, Third
Place. The panorama is a contemporary enigma
on style and leisure. An expression of
duality is used to challenge perceptions of cultural freestyle and the
restraint of consumerism.
Seffen Fiasst’s “Sphere” won Fourth Place for its refreshing
clarity, a translucent image which simply quenches thirst and also makes the
heart smile; while Jaime Frey’s “Rayna” received Fifth Place as a reminder of
humanity’s struggle with resolution, body image and self-deprecation.
Honorable Recognitions were awarded to Lori Shoaf for a
still life oasis entitled, “Puddle and Reflection” and also to, David J.
Thompson for, “Gallery Space”; a vivid geometric collage hearkening to the
manifold interpretations of a museum experience.
